1. Honda Civic's will always be popular tuner
cars. The new FD chassis may be bigger and more
refined, but that hasn't stopped us from
extracting more power.
2. The new R18 is a real departure from the
usual engine designs, with the catalytic
converter clamped straight to the block.
3. This is essentially the
"header" part of the R18 engine. Its not the
usual four pipes into one anymore. The real
proper term is actually a cat delete and
downpipe.
4. HotPipes headers are made of 100% stainless
steel and guaranteed to fit flawlessly.
5. After everything is of, the header is bolted
on to the engine.
6. Since the downpipe snakes under the oil pan,
thermal wrap keeps the temps in check.
7. This is critical. The two O2 sensors must be
bolted back in place or else the car will throw
a CEL.
8. The finished header install.
9. For almost new cars, making power is usually
down to an intake, header and tuning combo. Note
the Unichip on the upper right side.
10. Dyno testing the header.
11. There is definitely an increase in power
here, both on automatics and manual
transmission.
12. With an intake, header and Unichip, power is
up by 19hp more and torque is up 28Nm.
