SpeedLab Custom Power Package

The 3.5L V6 Toyota Camry is a perfect example. Its hardly a model with a small sales volume, and its certainly popular, its just that people who buy Camrys don't really consider it a car that you can play with for more power and performance. Well this dad is different, having grown up with big V8 muscle back in the US, he wants more oomph for his V6 family sled.

The first component in any Power Package is the intake system. For this Camry, we removed the stock air box, or boxes actually. And as you can see, air has to go through a lot of chambers, twsits and turns before it reaches the engine.

We next remove the stock headers. We were quite surprised on how small the piping is and off course the very restrictive catalytic converter.

The engine bay looks now looks a lot less cluttered with the stock airbox removed.

We then cusotm make an intake kit for the car using aluminum piping and integrated sensor mount with a lifetime K&N filter. We added a nice matt black shielding for aesthetics.

Here's the K&N intake with the engine cover on.

For the exhaust side of things, we went with a pair of DC Sports universal 3" inlet mufflers to give the car some looks and a nicer growl.

But the real power can be found in changing the headers. Since there is no off the shelf bolt on solution for the Camry, we had to design and custom make a set. These are the front and back sections of the header.

Here's a view of the back section of the headers with the 3-1 section.

And here's the front part. What differentiates us from other muffler and header places is that we carefully consider the placement of the sensors. We've seen some shops put the O2 sensors in the wrong places or worse, don't put them back at all.

Underneath is a Y section that connect thes 2 pieces together. The flexible section is another important part often neglected by other shops.

The DC Sports mufflers fit nicely under the bumper. We fabricated a small section of piping for each so that it becomes a bolt on affair and can be easily returned to stock should the owner want to.

Nice and shiny!

And of course the Unichip is installed and the car is subsequently tuned on the dyno. And this Camry checks in a 248whp! That's Subaru STI territory right there! Most impressive is the flat torque curve from 3500 all the way to 6000 rpm

And as with every SpeedLab Power Package, we give you the badge that says so!
