Mazda 3 Headers |
|

1.
The Mazda 3/Ford Focus twins are great cars with untapped potential.
Just becasue they are automatics doesn't mean they can't make big power.
|

2.
Like most new cars, the headers are now located at the back of the
engine instead of in front. And the catalytic converter is nestled
immediately after the block.
|

3.
The bolts are loosened one by one.
|
|

4.
Two rubber hangers are located on the underside of the car that hold
the stock header in place.
|

5.
After everything is of, the header is pulled from the top, its a pretty
tight squeeze but it will come out.
|

6.
The big heat shield will not be used anymore but the 2 smaller bits
will be returned. Contrary to popular belief, the headers are not any
hotter than stock.
|
|

7.
Here's the stock header. Notice the catalytic converter after the 4
pipes.
|

8.
Here's the SpeedLab header next to it. Not the longer and bigger
primaries and the lack of the power robbing catalytic converter.
|

9.
The stock header has two O2 sensors wich must be removed and
transferred to the new header.
|

10.
Both sensors are bolted to the SpeedLab header.
|

11.
The new header is slipped back from the top.
|

12.
Two holes have to be drilled on the header flange and secured with two
14mm nut and bolt.
|
|

13.
Here's the installed header. This baby will fit all Mazda 3 engines and
all Ford Focus engines except the TDCi.
