Ford Focus Tein Super Street

1. The Mazda 3, Ford Focus and Volvo S40 are practically siblings. Even down to the suspension components. The Tein Super Street coilovers are made for the Mazda 3 but can be made to fit the focus with a few minor changes.

2. The Tein Super Street coilovers will fit both Focus hatch and sedan, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 engines. The car is jacked up and disassembly procedes.

3. One difference between the two is the wheel bolt pattern, with the Focus and the S40 having a 5 x 108, while the Mazda 3 is 5 x 114.3.

4. The front struts loosened with the 3 bolts on top and a sleeve clamp at the bottom.

5. The rear suspension has the shock and spring separate, much like other European sedans like Benzes and Bimmers.

6. Here's the front shock and spring. We will be needing the top hat.

7. Here's the front Tein assembly.

8. The spring hat slips over the top spring mount.

9. We will also be needing the rear shock mount.

10. We use the aluminum piece and bolt it to the top of the Tein shock. The center rubber mount allows the shock to swing and flex.

11. The rear spring comes with a threaded mount where height is adjusted.

12. Here's the finished shock and springs mount in the rear.

13. Hereis the front coilover. The green matches the red caliper.

14. Here is knob where you make the damping adjustment. Despite the overwhelming similarities, the Focus chassis and trimmings restrict the installtion of Tein's EDFC without the need to cut stuff up.

15. After lowering the car 1.5" all around, we checked out the alignment. Turns out the Focus already has slight negative camber all around, lowering anymore necessitates some camber correction using camber bolts.
